The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience in a related area, along with familiarity with QA standard concepts, practices, and technologies in the field.

As a Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing and establishing quality assurance standards and measures, with a specific emphasis on web accessibility within our Division of Information Technology Services (ITS). Collaborating closely with ITS project teams, you will oversee the quality testing of both in-house and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products, ensuring they meet accessibility guidelines and deliver inclusive user experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead efforts in developing and implementing web accessibility testing standards and practices for new applications, products, and enhancements throughout their development lifecycles.
  • Conduct thorough testing activities to ensure that applications meet accessibility requirements and provide equal access to all users, including those with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with project teams to analyze technical documentation and assess system architecture to determine potential accessibility barriers.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans and execute test cases specifically focused on evaluating web accessibility features and functionality.
  • Conduct manual and automated accessibility testing using industry-standard tools and techniques to identify and address accessibility issues.
  • Collaborate with software developers, designers, and content creators to provide guidance and support in implementing accessible design and development practices.
  • Provide actionable feedback and recommendations for accessibility improvements to development teams based on test results and industry best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards and regulations, such as WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and Section 508, throughout the software development process.
  • Champion accessibility initiatives within the organization, raising awareness and promoting a culture of accessibility among team members and stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory changes related to web accessibility testing and compliance.
  • Communicate accessibility test progress, results, and relevant information to project stakeholders and management.
  • Collaborate with other QA analysts to ensure that accessibility considerations are integrated into broader testing efforts and methodologies.
  • This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by ensuring that our software products are accessible to all users, while also providing secondary emphasis on the testing and installation of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products. If you're passionate about accessibility and possess strong QA testing skills, we encourage you to apply.
