Job Description:
  • Responsible for leading the strategic design and maintenance of business intelligence applications.
  • Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems.
  • Ensures that the use of business intelligence applications enhances business decision making capabilities.
Job Duties:
  • To provide Business Intelligence management services, including project management and technical leadership, for client’s BIDW (Business Intelligence Data Warehouse) Program (Highway Division).
  • Lead client’s  wide implementation & training efforts of the Microsoft Power BI and other Business intelligence / analytical tools.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the new client’s Power BI cloud environment and related processes to allow users develop, publish and share Power BI reports/ data built integrating existing on- premise systems and data sources such as Data Warehouse data marts and cubes.
  • Lead implementation/ upgrades of other Business Intelligence tools, including upgrades to SSRS 2016 and Power BI on-premises analytical tools such as Power BI desktop and Power BI report server.
  • Lead / oversee development and implementation of key pilot, end-to-end Power BI dashboard projects to help educate current and potential users about the features of the new suite of Microsoft reporting suite.
  • Manage/ direct BI development and operations as it relates to Business Intelligence capabilities of the BIDW Program, working closely with customer/ user community and overseeing the BI team to ensure timely and accurate development of dashboards, operational, ad hoc reporting from conceptual design through delivery.
  • Manage the RFR (Request for Report) queue/ system, estimating and prioritizing customer requests for reports/dashboards
  • Assign / direct work to the BI team, manage and oversight for the development of end user reports, communicate with customers as needed.
  • Lead a BI report developer resource and a BI intern.
  • Provide consultative business products, technical and analytical services (data, reports, analysis, interpretation of data, and related strategies and recommendations) primarily for Highway Division customers as well as other ODOT customers.
  • Act as subject matter expert with a strong working knowledge of relational and multi-dimensional data sources, reporting, analysis and report development and implementation processes.
Lead BI Training
  • Organize, develop materials and lead user-group labs and training in BI tools (SSRS and Power BI)
  • Share any new reporting, analytics and technology concepts in order to maximize user engagement and proficiency.
BI market research
  • Conduct ongoing BI market tool research and evaluation, with a strong focus on the evolution of the Microsoft BI stack suite of tools for both cloud and on-premises analytics.
