Position Overview:
We are seeking a Document Accessibility Specialist with demonstrated expertise in digital accessibility compliance, document remediation, and assistive technologies. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience from relevant organizations and possesses both functional and technical skills to ensure that a variety of digital documents meet or exceed applicable accessibility standards, such as WCAG, Section 508, and PDF/UA.

This role requires strong attention to detail, fluency with tools like Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office, and the ability to assess and remediate content using screen readers and other assistive technology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Use Adobe Acrobat, CommonLook, and similar tools to remediate PDF documents for accessibility compliance.
  • Remediate other document types including Microsoft Office files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and web-based content.
  • Use assistive technologies such as JAWS, NVDA, or Narrator to manually test document accessibility.
  • Respond to and fulfill accessibility accommodation requests from external stakeholders.
  • Track remediation progress and prepare activity reports as needed.
  • Stay current on evolving accessibility standards and document compliance requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Hands-on experience with Adobe Acrobat/Pro for document editing and remediation.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software tools quickly.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4–6 years of experience in document accessibility remediation and compliance auditing.
  • Hands-on experience with CommonLook PDF or other remediation tools.
  • Skilled in using screen readers and assistive technology for accessibility testing (JAWS, NVDA, Narrator, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of accessibility guidelines: Section 508, WCAG, and PDF/UA standards.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and independently solve problems.
  • Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy.

Work Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must currently live and work within the state of Colorado.
  • This role is term limited and not contract to hire.
