Associate Procurement Specialist

Job title: Associate Procurement Specialist— Transactional Procurement 
Location: Portland, Oregon (hybrid)
Duration: 12 months

Role Overview

The Associate Procurement Specialist plays a critical role in supporting efficient procurement operations. This position is responsible for transactional procurement activities, including purchase requisition processing and low-risk sourcing support.

The role ensures the timely and accurate execution of routine procurement tasks, enabling Category Buyers and Category Managers to focus on higher-value tactical and strategic initiatives. The Associate Procurement Specialist helps maintain compliance with established procurement processes and contributes to a reliable, efficient source-to-pay cycle.

Key Responsibilities

Requisition & Purchase Order Processing

  • Process purchase requisitions, including Purchase Orders (POs) and Change Orders (COs), in compliance with procurement policies. 

  • Validate purchase requests to ensure completeness and accuracy of documentation. 
  • Provide basic purchasing support activities as required.

Low-Risk Sourcing

  • Develop RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs for assigned low-complexity sourcing events. 
  • Determine appropriate procurement methods for routine purchases. 
  • Negotiate pricing and terms for standard, low-risk buys. 
  • Apply foundational sourcing principles to identify process improvements and cost-saving opportunities.

Contract Management

  • Assist in drafting and executing contracts using established procurement frameworks. 
  • Support contract extensions and escalate issues when appropriate. 
  • Prepare formal supplier notices and maintain supplier performance documentation.

Administrative & Workflow Support

  • Manage procurement-related tickets (e.g., ServiceNow), triage requests, and ensure timely resolution. 
  • Support general procurement workflow and documentation tracking.

Compliance & Coordination

  • Ensure adherence to procurement standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Collaborate closely with Category Buyers and Category Managers to ensure smooth handoffs and timely execution of work.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.

Experience

  • 1–2 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, category management, or a related field.  
  • Familiarity with ERP and procurement systems preferred.
