Position Description:
- The Technical Editor & Writer III will support a wide array of tasks associated with the development and maintenance of technical publications for a large defense program.
- Editing plans, technical reports, test procedures, statements of work, user manuals, operation manuals, requirement specifications, validation documents, and proposal volumes.
- Working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure clear and accurate technical documentation.
- Collaborating with Configuration Management and Quality Mission Assurance for document publication and delivery.
- Capturing meeting minutes and action items for technical exchange meetings (TEMs) and design reviews.
- Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience;
- OR a Master’s degree with 3 years of related experience;
- OR a PhD with 1 year of related experience.
- Current DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
- Experience developing and maintaining program plans and process documents, and experience working with SMEs to improve and clarify technical documentation.
- Excellent technical writing and editing skills with a focus on accuracy and consistency of both technical information and documentation layout.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and SharePoint plus Adobe Acrobat.
- Well-organized, detailed-oriented self-starter who enjoys challenges and works well in teams and independently.
- Exceptional organizational skills to include the ability to multitask; must be focused on program’s documentation requirements and deadlines.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management, as well as the customer.
- Understanding of contractual requirements [SOWs and Data Item Descriptions (DIDs)] and Configuration Management processes.
- Understanding of program Security Classification Guides (SCGs) to determine document portion markings.
- Proposal experience, such as authoring Basis of Estimates (BOEs) and editing Technical Volumes.
- Experience using Agile framework and Jira best practices.
