Short Description of the project:
This role supports a number of demonstration and technical projects falling under the Smart Grid Testbed (SGTB), a multi-year field demonstration research project focused on developing flexible load resources.

Job Description : 
  • Responsible for providing project assistance to a senior project manager; performing project management activities in support of a major or enterprise wide project managed by a senior project manager (PM).
  • Working with the project team and leaders, to ensure strategic alignment, service impacts of business initiatives and projects; assists in business case/justification.
  • Coordinating the day-to-day activities of multiple projects.
  • Ensuring projects adhere to frameworks and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project. Providing administrative support as needed.
  • Working with project teams to understand and assist with tracking all work, task and project assignments. Undertaking project tasks as required. Ensuring project deadlines are met. Provides project support by scheduling meetings, developing agendas, distributing meeting materials, capturing minutes, tracking assignments and requesting updates.
  • Maintains, monitors and updates the project plan; tracks and updates budget; alerts Project Manager to significant variances and potential scope increases; maintains and tracks all project-related action items and issues.
  • Organizing, and facilitating stakeholder meetings where appropriate and distributing minutes to all attendees.
  • Documenting and following up on important actions and decisions from meetings. Assisting with the development of any necessary communication or presentation materials.
  • Ensures all project documents are catalogued and archived in a secure and efficient manner. Partners with project managers to improve overall organizational competencies in project management
The size of the team will be 4 person team, including a Sr. Project Manager, Contract Analyst, Engineer, and Intern.

Required Skills:

Basic knowledge of a project management science, methodologies and standards.

Experience in using software applications such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel spreadsheet; MS Project, Visio, and Smartsheets experience desired but not required.

Education requirements: High school diploma required, some college preferred.
